wicked scimitar of chaos vs. elvin short sword

I purchased a wicked scimitar of chaos and started using it and noticed when im fighting elves and orcs the elvish short sword kills them quicker. What kind of monsters is the wicked good for and is there a reasonably priced weapon thats good for elf hunting?
